Mesh peekaboo top

Don’t call it a comeback. Call it trying to overcome some major fashion blogger obstacles. One, I am running out of clothes that fit since I’ve lost weight, which is great but UGH. It’s a transition and like all others, it partly just sucks. Two, my hair is doing some fucking weird and crazy things. When you lose 25% of your locks after you give birth, it does grow back. It just means you have an insane undercoat of thick, short hair that makes your whole coif prone to cowlicks and terrible for any style other than a bun. Three, as a stay-at-home mom, ruts happen and I fell knee deep into a big one. I am NOT a self-starter and if someone isn’t expecting me to blog, damn it I might just not do it.

Luckily, Kristin from One Little Mango got a hold of me and asked that I pick out a pair of earrings from her Etsy store and feature them on Mamafierce! I just had to go with these royal purple tassels because it was a dead-on match with my new mesh peekaboo top. That lush purple against a flashy orange red is one dynamic color combo and some mustard accents in the shoes and bracelet give it an everyday appeal. I wore this on a recent date night but it can easily be taken to the office with a neutral jacket or cardigan. Plus, I think the tassel earrings are a perfect work accessory–not too flashy with a cute vintage vibe.

Striped skirt

Good god am I ready for this heatwave to be over. My curling iron is collecting dust and honestly, I’m just not a fan of having to shave my legs often enough to show them every damn day. But I was determined not to let the rising temps prevent me from getting properly primped for a well-deserved dinner and movie date night with hubs. Fittingly, we saw The Heat. You should too.

This Old Navy striped skirt was actually a last-minute purchase and it just happened to perfectly match a tank I already had in the closet. Rust and purple are one of my favorite color combos so I went with pointed flats, a sparkling drawstring bracelet, and a geode ring all in purple. Just excuse my messy mint nails. They at least go with the color scheme but man do I need a mani. And how do you like that geometric plate necklace from Forever 21? I had been dying to wear it!

If you are half of a couple living in the SF Bay area and you need a little kick in the ass when it comes to planning date nights, my experience thus far with How About We for couples has been pretty satisfactory. Not only are do they offer some real savings, they coordinate with venues and restaurants to make your reservations so you don’t have to. WAY appreciated!

We signed up for a tour of the historic San Francisco Armory, which just haaaaaappens to be the studio’s of Kink.com, a one-stop site for all your BDSM needs. And while we’re not really into that, we do like historic sites, we are fond of tours, and free drinks are also a plus. Add to that some gratuitous nudity and what else do you need for a long-awaited date with your baby daddy?

Holy crap was I glad I wore flats (not that I ever wear anything higher than a two-inch wedge–I’m very clumsy). I don’t know how many floors this Moorish castle-like place has, but we pretty much climbed stairs to all of them. After the tour, I took husband to one of my favorite restaurants in SF, Straw. Carnival food, need I say more? I also have to give a shout out to Lyft, a remarkable app that calls local drivers to your location and lets you pay them a “donation” on the spot with your phone. Try calling a cab in SF, they never come. Nor do they have pink mustaches on their front bumpers, which is just sad when you think about it.
